A 1394 Net Adaptor Connection is basically Win2k/XP's way of telling you that you have a Firewire interface installed in your system.

IEEE 1394 is more commonly known as Firewire and is mostly used to connect to peripherals such as digital cameras, camcorders and some external hard drives. It can also be used to network two Firewire-equipped systems together, achieving 12.5 to 50MBps transfer speeds. Firewire networking use is limited because of its 15ft cable length limitation.

I didn't think I could do anything with my 1394 net adaptor, but when I bridged the connection with my lan connection, data transfer is so much faster now.

Why do I have the 1394 Net Adaptor. Its not something I have ever intentionally loaded and seems to REALLY slow my internet interaction? What will be the result if I uninstall it?

Chris,
You don't say how to bridge the firewire and lan connections. Just enabling them on my inspiron 700m does not connect them. My 1394 net adapter is enabled but I cannot get an internet visual from it even though it says that I am connected. My lan connection is enabled and I can access the internet from it but I do not get the higher speed of the 1394 net adaptor. Has anyone been successful at effecting a bridge as Chris infers?

ignore the bridging thing - 1394 is just for plugging in cameras etc as stated & for data transfer between plugin & computer

"I am not Japanese enough for Japan, and not Brazilian enough for Brazil. So I decided to just be Karina. That is enough."

In the eclectic world of Japanese entertainment, few foreign-born talents have carved out a career as enduring and versatile as Karina Nishida (西田 カリーナ). While the entertainment industry is often difficult for tarento (talents) of mixed heritage, Nishida has successfully transitioned from a high-fashion model to a beloved household name across comedy, travel, and variety shows. Early Life and Brazilian Roots Born on April 17, 1982, in São Bernardo do Campo, Brazil, Karina Nishida is of Japanese and Italian descent. Her great-grandparents emigrated from Japan to Brazil, making her a Sansei (third-generation Japanese Brazilian). She moved to Japan at the age of 18 to pursue a modeling career, initially facing the dual challenges of a language barrier and cultural adjustment. karina nishida

In recent years, she has transitioned into a "commentator" role on news programs, offering opinions on immigration and multiculturalism in Japan—a topic she is uniquely qualified to discuss. Nishida married a non-celebrity Japanese businessman in 2018. The wedding was held in a Catholic church in São Paulo, blending her Brazilian and Japanese heritage. She gave birth to her first child, a daughter, in 2020. She is famously private about her husband's identity, rarely posting his face on social media. "I am not Japanese enough for Japan, and

She is also an outspoken advocate for mental health, having revealed she suffered from panic disorder during her 20s due to the pressure of modeling. Karina Nishida broke the mold for hafu (half-Japanese) celebrities. Before her, foreign-looking models were expected to be quiet, mysterious, or simply "eye candy." Nishida proved that a Brazilian-Japanese woman could be the funniest person in the room, the sharpest commentator on the panel, and a successful entrepreneur. While the entertainment industry is often difficult for

Despite her striking looks, she stood out in the homogeneous modeling industry. However, her unique background—a blend of Latin American warmth and Japanese features—eventually became her greatest asset. Nishida first gained public attention in the early 2000s as an exclusive model for the fashion magazine JJ . During the "gyaru" (gal) era, she was a staple in publications like Cancam and Vivi . Her tall stature, tan skin (a departure from the traditional pale Japanese aesthetic), and confident walk made her a runway favorite for major designers like Kenzo and Issey Miyake.

She was often compared to model LIZA (another famous Brazilian-Japanese model), but Nishida carved her own niche by being more accessible and "girl-next-door" in her photo essays. Nishida’s breakout in television came not through drama, but through the grueling world of Japanese variety shows. Her big break was appearing on the immensely popular富士电视台 (Fuji TV) series "Trivia no Izumi" (Trivia Fountain), where she showcased her ability to laugh at herself.

I was having problems with my LAN connection (Logitech squeezebox set up - data stream kept dropping out/connection failing - on and off for YEARS).

Tried "bridging" 1394 and LAN - FIXED!!

Presumably the 1394 and LAN cards were somehow interfering with each other (fighting over resources and confusing the OS?) and now they are in harmony with each other.

Next I'll try disabling the 1394 completely but for now I'm just going to enjoy some music :-)

i have a windows xp desktop and i had a virus on it that wouldnt let me access it. so i used the windows xp professional installation disc to fully recover it and make a clean slate. It suddenly got rid of my local area connection (i have a yellow ethernet cable plugged into the wall) and all it says is i have a 1394 connection. im thinking that windows xp professional installation disc just decides to install it on (1394 network adapter). im not sure how to get rid of it, i could buy a wireless adapter but id rather just connect with an ethernet cord if i can. any suggestions?

To bridge the 1394 connection and the local area connection.
(1) Disable both.
(2) Select both ( drag or use control click just highlight both connections )
(3) right click within the high lighted area and choose bridge connections
that should bridge them.
