The 2x2 Formal Attire Matrix for Female Personnel (Issued by HR Director, M. Vance)

Sloan 2.0 unzipped her magnetic closure and let her shoulders fall an inch.

At 9:01 AM, Mina entered the elevator. Three other women stood in identical boxes. Each wore the 2x2. Each had tied the crimson noose.

At 3:47 PM, a circuit breaker tripped. Screens went dark. The floor went silent.

The Statue kicked off her modified heels. They made a soft thump under the desk.

Mina retied her noose. Sloan 2.0 zipped up. The Statue slipped her feet back into the shaved heels.

None of them spoke. They didn’t need to. In the 2x2 grid of their formal attire, they had found a third dimension: the space between the rules.

But for five minutes, they had been human. And the 2x2 template had no box for that.
