Jaxon Reid is led away by his own lawyers. The journalist hands Roman a $100 bill. "For the tip jar. And the story." Roman stares at the money. "This is… legal tender for a public good. I'm going to frame it."

The crew is in the van. Kyle is watching the cat video on his phone. Casey is leaning on Henry’s shoulder. Roman is calculating how many indie films a $100 tip can support.

Panic. The Vulture Capitalists exchange nervous texts. The FOSS Warriors start chanting, "Open source or GTFO."

The guests are two warring factions: (open-source fanatics in Birkenstocks) and The Vulture Capitalists (glaring at phones, wearing $5k sneakers). Henry is assigned to a charcuterie station. Casey (Lizzy Caplan) is on cocktails. Roman is, to his horror, on "Vegan Dumpling Patrol." Kyle is assigned to "ambiance" (holding an iPad displaying abstract swirling colors). Jaxon Reid is led away by his own lawyers

At the Party Down office, Ron Donald (Ken Marino) is ecstatic. The gig is at a sleek, glass-walled San Jose penthouse for a company called "Codex Futura." Henry (Adam Scott) reads the client notes: "The 'LibVPX' unveiling. Very exclusive. High net worth individuals." Ron’s eyes water with patriotic-corporate pride. "A new video codec? This is the Oscars of compression algorithms!" Kyle (Ryan Hansen) asks if the guests will be "hot, rich, and loose." Roman (Martin Starr) sneers, "It's a bunch of neckbeards arguing about bitrate. It’s my nightmare and my natural habitat."

Radio plays: "Are you having a party? Let us be the ones who ruin it." And the story

In the chaos, Ron Donald tries to settle everyone down. "Please! We have a kale quinoa salad bar! Can’t we resolve this over gluten-free options?" A flying laptop misses his head by an inch.
