Perez closes his eyes. The pieces shift.
“Is it?” Perez walks past him into the lobby. “You knew Catherine Ross.”
Perez doesn’t look up. “Same as Lizzie McKenzie.”
“I told your officers everything,” Iain says. “I was at sea. Crew can vouch.”
Perez walks the crime scene again. The bath is gone, but the ghost of it remains. He kneels, runs a finger along a scratch on the floorboard—something heavy dragged.
“You’re not here for tea,” Maggie says.
