Puranam In English - Siva

The Siva Puranam (also spelled Shiva Puranam ) is not the entire Shiva Purana (one of the 18 Mahapuranas), but a specific, powerful collection of 51 verses found within the Rudra Samhita of the Shiva Purana. It is a devotional hymn (stotra) that beautifully encapsulates the glory, forms, attributes, and legends of Lord Shiva.

(This is the first of the five Panchabrahma mantras – Sadyojata, Vamadeva, Aghora, Tatpurusha, Ishana.) "Ksheerodarnava Vasine, Kapardine Sulochanaya, Nila Griva Dvijah Prokta, Sivaya Siva Rupine." Meaning: Salutations to Him who resides in the Milky Ocean, who has matted hair, beautiful eyes, and a blue throat (Neelakantha), the twice-born (Brahmins and devotees) call Him Shiva, the embodiment of auspiciousness. Verse 4 – The Three-Eyed Lord "Trayambakam Yajamahe, Sugandhim Pushti Vardhanam, Urvarukamiva Bandhanan, Mrityor Mukshiya Mamritat." Meaning: We worship the three-eyed Lord (Tryambaka), who is fragrant (with divine grace) and nourishes all beings. May He liberate me from the bondage of death, like a cucumber is separated from its vine, and lead me to immortality. siva puranam in english
