Georgie walked by, a Yoohoo in hand. He took one look. "You broke your nerd box."

Sheldon Cooper sat on the curb, his shorts carefully aligned with the edge of the concrete. Before him, his most prized possession—a Compaq Portable III computer, affectionately named "Colossus"—emitted a sickly, sporadic beep. The screen, usually a comforting amber glow, was a chaotic cascade of pixelated nonsense.

Just the sound of things working again.

Missy appeared, less interested in the computer and more interested in the dramatic potential. "Is he gonna cry?"

"Y'know," George said slowly, "when I was your age, I had a dirt bike. A Honda Z50. I took the carburetor apart to clean it. Put it back together, and it had this piece left over. A little brass jet. Bike never ran right again."
